DoH choses Prevenar 13

The Department of Health has chosen Wyeth’s Prevenar 13 as the pneumococcal vaccine for the national immunisation programme.

    Prevenar 13 provides protection against 13 of the most common pneumo­coccal serotypes – the seven included in Prevenar (4, 6B, 9V, 14, 18C, 19F and 23F) and six additional serotypes (1, 3, 5, 6A, 7F and 19A).
