Levitra matches Viagra
Published on 07/19/10Bayer Schering Pharma has cut the price of its erectile dysfunction drug vardenafil (Levitra).
The cost of 5mg tablets has more than halved to £1.89 each; this strength accounted for 4 per cent of vardenafil prescribed by GPs in England in 2009. Over a third has been cut from the price of the 10mg tablets (to £3.52 each), which accounted for 31 per cent of prescribing.
However, only 2.5 per cent has been shaved from the price of 20mg tablets (to £5.87 each), which accounted for almost two-thirds of prescriptions.
The recommended dose of vardenafil is initially 10mg, adjusted to a maximum of 20mg.
The current price for the maximum 100mg dose of sildenafil (Viagra) is £5.87 and for tadalafil 20mg (Cialis) it is £6.75.
